According to a press release from the Wauseon Police Department, the law enforcement agency is investigating an apparent murder-suicide.
“On January 10th, 2025, at approximately 11:32 a.m. Wauseon Fire and Police responded to 741 E. Elm St. where the residents, James and Nancy Barnes, both 76-year-old, were found deceased as a result of an apparent murder-suicide”, said Police Chief Kevin Chittenden in the statement.
“The scene is secured and Ohio BCI, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, were requested to assist with the investigation. This investigation remains active and ongoing.”
“The motive and time of death are still undetermined. Based on current findings, there is no ongoing threat to public safety. There are no further details being released at this time.”
