The Holiday City Planning Committee met for its latest session on May 29, as part of its regular twice-monthly meetings aimed at shaping the future of the growing community.
In attendance were the Village Administrator, Mayor Pam Clark, and Council member Shawn Clark, with two being absent.
While no formal actions were taken during the meeting, the committee engaged in a productive discussion centered around one of the village’s most pressing issues: zoning.
Currently, Holiday City operates without any established zoning regulations: a long-standing gap that limits the village’s ability to enforce ordinances and guide development.
A prior draft of zoning ordinances and regulatory frameworks was originally created and presented to the Council years ago and has now served as a foundation for the committee’s current efforts.
The zoning project, which began in earnest last June, is now entering its final stages, with hopes to present the proposed regulations to the Council later this year.
Among the discussion points were possible livestock restrictions, with a clear note that any existing animals would be grandfathered in, alongside ideas for potential park locations.
Updates to the current ordinance guidelines once created, but not approved, are also subject to change if necessary.
The committee also plans to consult with the village’s legal counsel to ensure compliance with Ohio law and to safeguard the best interests of Holiday City residents.
Importantly, should zoning regulations be adopted, community members will still retain the right to petition for changes or removals.
This underscores that these proposed rules are intended not as rigid mandates, but as flexible frameworks to guide responsible growth and enhance the village’s sense of place.
