Nearly 300 people turned out for a special food showcase event at the Fulton County Senior Center, where representatives from Gordon Food Service introduced a wide variety of new menu options.

Held at the center’s new facility in Wauseon, the event offered attendees a chance to sample more than 40 different food items not yet featured in the regular meal program.

The showcase provided both a culinary experience and a valuable opportunity for feedback. With a new kitchen staff, a fresh facility, and many new faces attending meals, the event allowed the center to gather input from participants about what they would like to see on future menus.

For Gordon Food Service, the showcase was a standout occasion. Representatives said it was the largest group they had ever hosted, making it both a unique challenge and a rewarding experience.

Based in nearby Lucas County, the company worked closely with Senior Center Director Sheri Rychener and the center’s head cook to plan the event.

To make the most of the event, small bite-sized samples were offered rather than full servings. This allowed attendees to try a wide selection of foods and helped the kitchen team assess which items received the most positive feedback.

In planning the menu, the senior center requested that Gordon’s limit the showcase to items that had never been ordered before, helping to ensure items that were already taken off the menu did not see a return.

The event highlighted the center’s commitment to serving nutritious, enjoyable meals and maintaining a responsive, community-focused environment.
