The Village of Fayette Council met on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. for its regularly scheduled meeting. All were in attendance, including Mayor David Borer, Katie Colegrove, Brenda Shoemaker, Greg Gable, Suzette Boesger, Kimberlee Priestap, and Brittany Theis. The meeting commenced with a prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
No changes were made to the presented agenda. The council proceeded to approve the minutes from the June 18, 2025, meeting, along with the Committee as a Whole minutes from July 9, 2025.
Under the reading of communications, Mayor Borer reported a letter from The Village Reporter concerning the 175th Fulton County Anniversary Celebration Booklet being created.
The council opted to participate by providing a full list of all active businesses and organizations located in Fayette to be showcased.
Borer reminded residents that the local farmers’ market is still in full swing, held every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The annual Bull Thistle Festivities are scheduled for August 2nd, with a full day of activities scheduled.
Brittany Theis, council member and in charge of organizing the Bull Thistle event, highlighted several programs. The parade is set to take place at 11:00 a.m. A wide assortment of vendors, food trucks, and concessions will be offered throughout the day.
Live music, including local stars Lee Warren and Heidi Paxton, will be provided. To end the night with a bang, “Park After Dark” will hold a drone show for residents to enjoy. Many more games, activities, and summer fun can be expected.
Village Administrator Bryan Stambaugh reported that the construction done throughout the village’s roadways is coming close to completion.
All concrete and asphalt work is finished, with restoration to sidewalks, lawns, and driveways soon to come. He expects work to be fully complete by early next week, if weather permits.
Many storm drains will not be uncovered until the work is finalized, in order to keep construction debris out of the waterlines.
“As Phase One is starting to wind down, as it began in late fall of 2023. The amount of work that has been completed in this short amount of time is truly amazing.”
“We are extremely fortunate to be chosen by the grant we received. These improvements will go a long way to provide a better quality residence for all,” he stated.
Playground equipment was noted to be delivered ahead of schedule. While the deadline for installation is not until June 2026, Stambaugh hopes to get the process started sooner.
Ordinance 2025-16 was introduced for its first reading to the council. This repeals existing Section 941.01 of the codified ordinances of the Village of Fayette and enacts a revised section establishing new water and sewer rates, declaring an emergency. Further readings will follow in the upcoming meetings.
During legislative matters, a motion was made to hire Aaron Hicks as a part-time officer, pending testing. Additionally, a motion was made for an agreement to purchase a Durango SUV in January 2026 at a cost of $60,437, under a three-year lease payment.
Another motion was approved to close the Sweep Account at WesBanco and to transfer approximately $397,000 to Sherwood Bank in the new account.
With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 6:35 p.m. The next regular scheduled meeting of the Village of Fayette Council is set for Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
