Richard “Dick” Kinney, age 84, of Wauseon, Ohio, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026. He was a lifelong resident of Wauseon.
Dick was born to the late Clyde and Berneatice (Balser) Kinney. He was preceded in death by Carolyn (Ord) Kinney, his loving wife of 59 years.
He is survived by his son, Rod Kinney of Wauseon. Dick graduated from Wauseon High School in 1959. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy hoping to see the world. He was stationed in Olathe, Kansas; never seeing sea duty.
After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he enrolled at Bowling Green State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1967. Dick worked for Libbey-Owens-Ford for 12 years in labor relations.
He then worked for General Motors until retirement. Dick was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 265 and Fulton County Sportsman’s Club, serving as President in 1972.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman; being in the woods and on the water brought much joy to his life.
Dick and Carolyn enjoyed traveling. Their adventures included Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Ireland, Switzerland, Russia, Africa, Hawaii and Alaska.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from noon – 2:00 p.m. at Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, 219 S. Fulton St., Wauseon, Ohio with a Graveside Service in Wauseon Union Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Jeffrey L. Ridenour officiating. Military Honors provided by Fulton County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial Contributions be made to Christ United Methodist Church of Wauseon.
