(A Life Built On Service & Faith)

Donald Howard Proudfoot, age 94, was peacefully called home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 14, 2026, lying next to his beloved wife in their Swanton home.

He was born at his parents’ home in Wauseon on June 22, 1931, to Howard Proudfoot and Mabel (Bortel) Proudfoot. After graduating from Liberty Center High School in 1949, he entered the U.S. Army where he proudly served during the Korean War from 1951-1953.

Upon returning from his military service, Don married the love of his life, Oneta A. Frazier, on June 27, 1953, at Shiloh Christian Union Church in Delta. Together, they built a life centered on their deep love for one another and their unwavering faith in God.

They were blessed with three children: Stacy, Philip, and Tammy. Don believed in making each day count. He was known for his strong work ethic and his willingness to serve others.

Over the years, he worked as a woodworker and builder, factory worker, egg producer, mechanic, electrician, and more; always using his skills to help family, friends, and neighbors. He also enjoyed gardening.

His commitment to his faith was a defining part of his life. Don was deeply involved in his church, where he provided leadership and service in countless ways. He especially cherished his mission trips and had a heartfelt passion for sharing his faith and helping others come to know his Savior. In addition, he was a member of the Liberty Center VFW.

Don is survived by his wife of 72 years, Oneta A. Proudfoot; children, Stacy (Karen) Proudfoot of Liberty Center, Philip (Sandy) Proudfoot of Delta and Tammy (Rodney) McQuillin of Liberty Center; sister, Shirley Rohrs; eight grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mabel Proudfoot; sisters, Lucille Knisely, Dorothy Henricks and Audrey Ewell.

Friends and family will be received from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta. A funeral service honoring Don’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2026, at Shiloh Church, 2100 Co. Rd. 5, Delta, Ohio 43515. Pastors Chuck Whitmire and Joe Proudfoot will be officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Delta with military rites provided by the Liberty Center VFW.

Those wishing to show sympathy may consider memorial contributions in Don’s memory to Shiloh Missions, 2100 Co. Rd. 5, Delta, Ohio 43515. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com.
