Families gathered Saturday evening for the Village of Metamora’s third annual Movie Night in the Park after poor air quality caused by Canadian wildfire smoke forced the village to postpone the event by one day.
Hosted by the Village of Metamora and The Gleaner Life Insurance Society, the free community event featured Disney and Pixar’s Cars and included activities for children before the movie began at dusk.
Activities got underway around 7:30 p.m., giving children and families the opportunity to enjoy games and other entertainment before settling in for the movie.
Children were encouraged to wear their favorite Cars-themed clothing or pajamas to match the evening’s theme.
Guests enjoyed complimentary popcorn, water, candy, temporary tattoos and coloring activities throughout the event while supplies lasted.
The evening was made possible through the support of The Gleaner Life Insurance Society along with donations from John and Nikki Pupos, whose contributions helped keep the event free for local families.
After the one-day postponement, favorable weather allowed families to spread out blankets and lawn chairs in the park and enjoy another Movie Night, continuing a tradition that has become a popular summer event for the community.
