Ann Nancy King WEBAnn Nancy King, 93, of Montpelier and formerly of Hoboken, New Jersey, passed away Tuesday night at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier. She was born on August 9, 1922 in Hoboken, NJ to Frank and Anna (Kilroe) King.

Nancy graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Hoboken, NJ. After graduation, she joined the United States Navy serving during WWII as a hospital apprentice 2nd class at St. Albans Naval Hospital in Long Island, NY and was honorably discharged in 1946. Nancy then entered nurses training at St. Francis Hospital in New Jersey and graduated with her RN degree. She worked in the O.R. of St. Francis, then was a cardiologist assistant before becoming a corporate nurse for Sperry Rand Co. in New York.

Nancy retired from nursing and enjoyed her leisure time until failing health brought her to Ohio in 2011. Her last few years were spent at Evergreen Manor where her whit, humor, and kindness charmed everyone. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montpelier. Nancy was a beloved sister and aunt to all her nieces and nephews and all the friends she made while at Evergreen. She was always generous with her time and professionalism. Nancy comforted the sick with her compassion and strength and always had a ready smile for everyone. She will be greatly missed.

Nancy is survived by her sister, Patricia Michael of Montpelier, brother, Joseph (Joan) King of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers, Thomas, Frank, Raymond and Robert King.

A funeral mass will take place on Saturday November 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montpelier with Father Jim Halleron to officiate. She will be laid to rest in a private interment at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Memorial contributions can be made in Nancy’s memory to the Evergreen Manor Activity Fund. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com
