Oliver J RoweOliver J. Rowe, 75, of Montpelier and formerly of Parker, Colorado passed away Saturday evening at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance. He was born on May 7, 1939 in Lookout, Kentucky to Eddie and Naomi (Ratliff) Rowe. Oliver graduated from Elkhorn City High School in Elkhorn City, Kentucky. He married Thelma J. Smith on December 24, 1959 in Elkhorn City, Kentucky and she preceded him in death on December 17, 2009.

In 2002 Oliver retired from Alcoa Manufacturing in Centennial, Colorado as a welder, after 20 years of employment. He was a member of the Masonic Free Mason Centennial Lodge #84, he was a Worshipful Master in 1980. Oliver was an active member of the Cruisin’ Knights Car Club of Northwest Ohio, in Bryan. At one time he was also a lieutenant in the Parker Fire Volunteer Protection District in Colorado.

Oliver is survived by one son, Mark (Sharon) Rowe of Englewood, Colorado; one daughter, Marsha (Jerry) Browneller of West Unity; four grandchildren, Steven Rowe of Englewood, Colorado, Jessica (Omar) Santos of Orlando, Florida, Thomas (Amber) Rowe of Englewood, Colorado and Brian (Jenna) Browneller of West Unity; three great grandchildren; and one sister Shelby Terrill of Westminister, Colorado.

He was preceded by his parents and wife Thelma.

A time to receive friends will be on Wednesday, March 23rd from 2-4pm and 5-7pm, with a 7pm Masonic Rites service at 7pm by the Bryan Lodge #215, at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 1pm at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Snavely to officiate. Interment will follow at Shiffler Cemetery in rural Bryan.
