Hansford E. LeggHansford E. “Gene” Legg, 75 years, of Montpelier, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, in Montpelier. Gene was born February 19, 1941, in Charleston, West Virginia, the son of the late Hansford I. and Orla O. (Fields) Legg. He married Patricia M. Litchfield on August 3, 1960, in Charleston, West Virginia. Gene worked for ITT-Higbie Manufacturing in Archbold for 35 years, until his retirement in 2003. He previously worked at B and B Grocery in Huntington, West Virginia and Pick and Pay in Charleston, West Virginia. Gene was a fun loving man and enjoyed making people laugh. He liked being outdoors and enjoying the simple things in life.

Surviving is his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Jean (Steve) Moor of West Unity, Ohio, and Dianna (Stephen) Major of Indianapolis, Indiana; one son, Michael Legg of Montpelier, Ohio; 7 Grandchildren and 15 Great-grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita (Bud Williams) Casto of Akron, Ohio, and Joyce (Russell) Kidd of Sissonville, West Virginia. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marie Casto and Shirley Funk.

Visitation for Hansford E. “Gene” Legg, will be held Monday, April 11, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity. Funeral Services for Gene will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Living Hope Free Methodist Church, 1051 West Jackson Street, West Unity, with Pastor Dave Mathis officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church, beginning at 12:00 p.m.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to Living Hope Free Methodist Church.
