Donald E. LevertonDonald E. Leverton, age 70, of Delta passed away Friday morning June 10, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born in Perrysburg, OH on September 1, 1945, one of two children born to the late Glenn Leverton and Louise (McCory) Leverton. On July 19, 1975, he was united in marriage to Sharon Williams and she survives.

Don was a Veteran having served as a Sargent with the U.S Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1966-1974. Prior to his retirement he served as a manager with Frish’s Big Boy in Toledo and later the McDonalds Restaurant in Wauseon and Genoa. Don was an avid fisherman with some of his favorite spots being in Port Clinton and the Delta Reservoir. He also enjoyed displaying his talents with Canvas Art. Don was a proud member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Delta and the Delta American Legion Post #373.

In addition to his wife Sharon of 40 years, he is survived by his daughters, Cyrena (Grant Barnhill) Leverton of Delta and Colleen (Ben) Ward of Perrysburg; sister, Fonda Altaffer of Perrysburg; grandchildren, Sara (Matt) Donnelly, Michelle, Alexis, Mariah, Dominick and Devon and great grandchildren, Kimberly, Kohl, Katilynn and Natalie. Along with his parents, Don was preceded in death by his son, Richard Leverton in 2009.

Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta. A funeral service celebrating Don’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 16, 2016; also at the funeral home with military rites to follow. Pastor Eric Markovich will be officiating. Private interment will be at New Belleville Ridge Cemetery near Dowling, Ohio.


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to his daughter, Colleen Ward, 244 W. 6th St., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 to be used for activities at the Ann Arbor VA Hospital in his memory. Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com.
