Harold D. Stemen

Harold D. Stemen, age 77, of Montpelier, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at his home. He was born on October 19, 1938 in West Jefferson, Ohio to Fay and Thelma (Harrington) Stemen. On July 3, 1960 he married Joyce M. Burkmire in Montpelier, Ohio and she survives.

Harold attended Montpelier High School. He worked for Mohawk Tools in Montpelier as a grinder for over 30 years and retired from Simpsons Industries in Fremont, Indiana. Harold loved to bowl, travel and garden. He never knew a stranger and always loved helping others. He was a member of the Eagles in Bryan.

Harold is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce M. Stemen of Montpelier; two daughters, Teresa (Dave) Hausch, Sr., of Stryker and Rosemary (Terry) Link of Auburn, Indiana; four grandchildren, David Hausch Jr., Suzanna Hausch, Conrad Hausch and Jaccie Link; one great granddaughter, Sadie Hausch; and one brother, Lee Stemen of Bryan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Roger, Keith and Charles “Chuck” Stemen; and three sisters, Alice Rath, Phyllis Davis and Helen Hugg.

A graveside service for Harold will take place on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00 am at Fountain Grove Cemetery in Bryan with Harold’s brother, Lee Stemen to officiate. Donations may be made in Harold’s memory to CHP-Hospice. Online condolences can be left at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com
