VOLLEYBALL
Hicksville nets a win over Hilltop
The Cadets fell in the non-conference match with scores of 10-25, 17-25, 11-25. Ariana Brown, Marisa Yates and Johnnie Roth had two kills apiece for Hilltop. Jewell Knapp was the top server for the Cadets finishing 8/9 with one ace and five points. Felicity Jackson finished with 44/46 setting with five assists.
Wauseon is a straight sets winner over Pettisville.
Wauseon gained their fourth victory of the young season over the Blackbirds. Pettisville was led by Morgan Leppelmeier’s 21/24 hitting and 12 kills. She also finished 11/12 serving. Teagan Kauffman added 10 kills on 16/20 hitting and was 11/12 serving. Carly Bontrager was 11/14 serving with one ace and 91/92 setting with 29 assists.
Eastwood downs the Delta Panthers in three sets.
The Panthers dropped the non-league battle in three games. Kinsey Finnen finished with one ace, four kills and four digs for Delta. Mary Miller had four kills, three digs and three blocks.
Swanton defeats Fayette
The Bulldogs topped the Eagles in three sets with scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-19.
BOYS SOCCER
Delta 4, Emmanuel Christian 2
The Delta Panthers travelled to Emmanuel Christian for the non-league match. Both teams came out strong but Delta’s Jared Gilders scored a goal 11 minutes in from an assist from Josh Bronson. The Warriors responded one minute later to give the game an early tie. Both teams battled hard for the next 16 minutes until Kaleb Circle put another goal in for Delta. That was the end of the first half scoring. Eight minutes into the second half, Jared Gilders scored a third goal for Delta with an assist from Anthony Russell. Emmanuel Christian scored their second goal 12 minutes later. Delta came back within the next four minutes with a goal Thomas Cupp assist from Anthony Russell to cap the victory.
BOYS JUNIOR HIGH SOCCER
Lake 5, Pettisville 3
The Blackbirds hosted the Lake Flyers for the first game of the season. Pettisville’s Blake Eyer opened up the scoring within the first two minutes by maneuvering through the defense and beating the goalie to the corner with his shot. The Flyers answered quickly and added to their lead with three more goals before the Blackbirds answered again. Isaac Cisneros received the ball in the box and put it in the net. And even though the half-time score was 4-2, Pettisville held their ground in the second half, only conceding once more and getting another goal, with Isaac Cisneros taking the ball in from a good distance and putting it easily in the corner of the net.
Archbold 7, Ottawa Hills 0
The Blue Streaks moved to 3-0 on the season with the lopsided non-league victory. Jared Kidder scored twice for the Streaks as Kaiden Bedsole, Austin Welch, Lucas Yoder and Andrew Hogrefe added contributed with one goal each. Jereme Rupp and Josh Kidder had assists.
VARSITY GOLF
The North Central Eagles improved to 22-13 overall with a tri match victory over Edgerton and Hicksville at Patriot Hills Golf Course. North Central score 171, Edgerton 178, and Hicksville 192. David Pinc of North Central earned medalist honors with a score of 37. Scoring turned in by the Eagles, besides Pinc, were Chace Boothman 40, Brock Zuver 43, Allyson Hutchison 51, Landon Patten 52, and Evan Livengood 53. Edgerton was led by Dacoda Faber’s 43 followed by Drew Hug (44), Jake Siebenaler (45), Cameron Schaper (46) and Zadin McNalley (50).
Bryan 149, Wayne Trace 180
The Golden Bears Peyton Lamberson tied for medalist honors with a round of 35 to pace Bryan to the easy non-league win. Joining Lamberson in the win were: Case Hartman (36), Owen Beaver (37), Andrew Heller (41), Connor Shirkey (46) and Conner Lemons (47).
VARSITY TENNIS
Archbold 4, MCVD 1
The Streaks dominated play over MCVD only dropping the first singles match. Caroline Kinsman was defeated by Stefi Avram 1-6, 2-6 in that match. But the Streaks rebounded in a big way with Belle Clark taking the second singles match 6-0, 6-0 and Itzy Gaona defeating Aniyah Woodley 6-3, 6-4 in third singles. In first doubles Darby Stevens and Isabel Krieger bested Michelle Lee and Julia Xing 6-0, 6-4 while Morgan Perry and Amanda Payne were 6-0, 6-0 winners over Zoey Howard and Ellie Griffith in second doubles.
