Violet B. Loar, age 92, of Delta, passed away early Saturday morning, April 1, 2017 at Swanton Valley Care Center.
She was born in Liberty Center, OH on April 20, 1924 to the late Harvey Rhoads and Jessie (Patton) Rhoads. Violet was a graduate of Liberty Center High School. For many years she worked as a sales clerk with the Delta Gambles Hardware Store. She was a member of Shiloh Christian Union Church; where she was proud to have helped started the Jet Cadets kids group. She and her husband were foster parents taking in many children over their life time. Some of her fondest hobbies included baking, quilting, sewing, fishing, gardening and bowling with her husband and church group.
Along with her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Newton H. Loar in 2009; brothers, Harold Rhoads in 2016 and her brother, Franklin Rhoads while serving during WWII. Violet is survived by her son, Dennis (Judy) Loar of Frederic, MI; daughters, Darlene Markley of Wauseon, Kathleen Hutchinson of Wauseon and Kristy (Steve) Weber of San Antonio, TX; foster daughter, Shirley; sisters, Bonnie Gibson, Maxine Echler and Janet (Dale) Hill; 14 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta. A funeral service celebrating Violet’s life will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Shiloh Christian Union Church, 2100 Co Rd 5, Delta, Ohio 43515. Pastor Chuck Whitmire will be officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery near Delta.
In lieu of flowers, a show of sympathy can be made to Shiloh Christian Union Church Building Fund in her memory.
