At the April 17th meeting of the Williams County Board of Developmental Disabilities, newly Commissioner appointed member, Tanya Robarge, was administered the oath of office.

Superintendent, Debra Guilford, reminded the Board that Tuesday, April 25th, from 5:00pm-7:00pm, the Managed Care Family Forum will be held, at the Enrichment Center.  Four of the five State of Ohio Managed Care providers will be on hand, explaining the advantages of moving from the standard Medicaid card services to managed care.  The event is open to the public.

Also noted was the upcoming Board member training, hosted by NOWAC, at The Defiance College, Thursday, April 27th, 5:00pm-8:00pm.  The Impact Group will be discussing the need for the increased use of positive, proactive and consistent communications, along with understanding the types of questions that Boards may be confronted with now and over time as this service transition unfolds. There will also be a training in the afternoon for county board staff (2:00pm-4:00pm) that Board members are welcome to attend.

The Board reviewed the Annual Financial Report that will soon be posted on the County Board’s website www.wmscodd.org

In other action, the Board approved a quote from MNJ Technologies for the AV system for the Board room, as well as 2 Surface Pro tablets.

Director of Children’s Services, Dennis Myers, reported that planning has begun on the Summer Enrichment Program. Applications will be sent out to eligible pre-school and school age students in the near future.

Cody Chrisman, Director of Community Services, informed the Board that there is a staffing shortage for provider agencies, leaving some individuals without a provider at this time. The SSA Department continues to reach out to providers in Williams County, as well as surrounding counties, state provider associations and other services organizations, to find potential providers.  A Family Forum will be held Tuesday, May 23, 5:00pm-7:00pm, at New Hope Community Church to discuss Shared Living. This event is open to the public, providing information to the community regarding how they can become a paid provider for individuals with developmental disabilities.
