Dear Editor,
The board of See and Do would like to thank all the business, churches and individuals that have donated to us over the years. Whether it is regular monthly support or any of our special projects, we value your contributions. Without our donors and volunteers, we could not continue our outreach in the community.

This last year has been difficult because we had to close the food pantry since we do not have a director for the pantry or enough volunteers. However, the clothing store is open and thriving under the direction of Nicole Renicker with the support of our volunteers – Delores Dennis, Sharon Nickle, Joyce Schelling, Mary Sickmiller, Betty Willibey, Karen Harris, Sylvia Rodriguez, Ashley Towers, JoAnn Handsone, Kari Shaw and Donna Guilford. Several board members regularly volunteer to help as well – Susan Burns, Connie Lamberson, Sharon Steinke, Jacque Bell, Ann Kidston, Ric Michael and Jeanne Darby. The clothing store is open on Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.. Several of our volunteers will be out for a time so, we are in real need for more volunteers. If you are interested in serving, please contact Nicole at 419-485-3577 or through our Facebook page.

We have also been challenged due to the fact that the trash collection for the village has been contracted to an outside service. In the past, the village and it’s employees always collected any junk that was dropped off or items ruined by the weather at no charge. Due to the contract, they can no longer provide this service. Unfortunately, every week we get large items that should have gone in the trash but are dropped off at See and Do instead (i.e. old TV’s and appliances that don’t work, furniture that is broken, ripped and/or stained, mattresses that are no good or stained). Without the help of the village, this is now creating a burden on our volunteers and is costing us money that could be better utilized just to have this junk hauled away. Because of this irresponsible dumping and the problems it creates, the Montpelier Police Department have increased their patrol of the area and we are installing security cameras in the near future.

We will prosecute those who are caught dumping junk. We ask that people only donate good reusable items. Large items that won’t fit in the drop box should only be dropped off during our regular hours or make special arrangements.

Also, please note that due to insurance and regulatory requirements, we will no longer accept baby equipment. Your cooperation will help us better serve those in need in our community.
Thank you,
Ric Michael
