John F. Richards, age 67, of Swanton, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, September 4, 2017.
He was born in Toledo on January 29, 1950 one of four children to the late Irving E. Richards Sr. and Margaret (Weisenburger) Richards. John attended Rossford High School.
On January 8, 1999, he married Patricia A. Kuszmaul. John worked as a machinist for Libbey Glass for over 15 years and later as a business agent for the Machinist Union Local #57 for over 10 years. He was the third generation to proudly serve for the Rossford Fire Department; where he earned the rank of Lieutenant. Some of John’s fondest hobbies included reading and being a handyman that was able to fix anything.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Irving E. Richards Jr. in 2001.
John is survived by his wife of 18 years, Patricia A. Richards; sons, Eddy (Lisa) Richards and Jon (Tamala) Richards, both of Adrian, MI; step-son, Aaron (Susie) Tilton of Grand Rapids, Ohio; brother, Jim (Barb) Richards of Rossford; sister, Maureen (Ric) Millen of Chelsea, MI; grandchildren, Wyatt, Weston, Max, Cirnex, Olive and Helen; along with loving step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted with Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy 109 in Delta.
