Whether in spite of or due to the low turn out of only 10% of Fulton County’s registered voters to the polls for the May 2013 Special Election, both the levy proposed for the operation of Fulton County 911 system as well as the levy proposed by the Fulton County Health District saw success.

The levy proposed for the operation of the county’s 911 system passed easily, with a 75.43%-24.57% margin. The levy is a renewal levy at 0.7 mils, which will amount to $0.07 for each one hundred dollars of valuation. The levy is set for five years and will first be due in 2014.
The Fulton County Health District levy, also a renewal levy, also saw easy passage with 67.76% in favor of the levy. The purpose for the levy was set as being for carrying out the health programs of the Fulton County Health District. The 0.5 mil levy, which will amount to $0.05 per each one hundred dollars of valuation, and is set to run for ten years and will also first be due in 2014.

The renewal levy for the purpose of road improvements was approved at 1 mil, amounting to $0.10 for each one hundred dollars of valuation, and will also be first due in 2014.

Voters in Gorham Township also found an additional proposed tax levy on their ballots. The additional tax is for the benefit of Gorham Township with a purpose of providing and maintaining fire apparatuses, appliances, buildings, or sites therefor, or sources of water supply and materials therefor. The purpose also includes providing and maintaining the establishment and maintenance of lines of fire alarm telegraph, the payment of permanent, part-time, or volunteer firefighters, or firefighting companies. Also included in the purpose of the tax is the payment of the firefighter employers’ contribution which is required under section 742.34 of the Revised Code.

The 2 mil levy, which will amount to $0.20 per one hundred dollars of valuation, passed with 71.64% of voters in the township voting in favor of the levy. The levy will run for five years and first be due in 2014.
Also seeing success at the polls in Fulton County were the Pike Township Fire Maintenance levy and the Pike Delta York LSD levy for the Delta Public Library. A replacement levy, the Pike Township Fire Maintenance levy passed with a 67.57%-32.43% margin. The Pike Delta York LSD levy, a replacement levy with an increase, succeeded at a 62.27%-37.73% margin.
