Although several other items were addressed at the May 22 regular session of the Fayette Village Council, items pertaining to the ongoing sewer separation project were front and center.
Payments to Gleason and Arcadis were approved by Council, taking up the lion’s share of the amount of $744,866.95 in total bills paid. According to Village Administrator Steven Blue, Gleason’s first two pay requests have now been paid in full. Their third requested installment has been submitted to the Ohio Water Development Authority for payment. Gleason has shelved their request to work at night, in favor of complete road closures. Should ODOT decide against the request, Gleason may reestablish their request for permission to work at night.

Advanced Rehabilitation Technologies will begin work next week on manhole rehabilitation as part of the sewer separation project.
The problem fill dirt that was deposited on the property of Trevor Hibbard has been piled up, and is awaiting removal by ODOT.
The OEPA Division of Surface Water was in town to inspect the lagoons and wastewater protocols. The village received their report, and noted that they have been cited for some minor violations. Of note was the reported numbers on certain days, or the monthly averages for monitored substances. The village will reply to the citations, and implement a plan to prevent these problems in the future.
Mr. Blue reported that the Village Spring Cleanup Day is scheduled for May 25, at a cost of $22 per household for one cycle of the truck.
Council approved Resolution 2013-02 in support of maintaining the tax-exempt financing options that the federal government is mulling the possibility of eliminating. Council also approved Resolution 2013-03, authorizing the purchase of 140 tons of road salt from the Fulton County Engineer.
Council heard and approved four ordinances, 2013-07 through 2013-10pertaining to appropriations, revenues, and transfers of funds. Most of this activity was pertinent to the sewer separation project, with a payment also being made to Arcadis for the Long Term Control Plan.
In final actions, Council agreed to waive garage sale permits for Memorial Day garage sales. Council also agreed to a raise to Mr. Tom Rupp, the backup water tester for the village. His pay rate moves to $20 per hour, with a $25 per month retainer to maintain his certification.
