Barbara Ann Steffens, 65, of Broom Rd., Waldron, MI, died Friday evening, May 23, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family and under the care of Great Lakes Hospice. She was born August 25, 1948, in Cherokee, N.C., to the late Leonard and Fannie (Smith) Peters. She married Wayne R. Steffens on December 27, 1969, in St. Clair Shores, MI, and he survives.
Barb and Wayne settled in Waldron in February of 2003, moving from Almont, MI. Barb previously worked at Elco Plastics in Romeo, MI. She enjoyed gambling at nearby casinos, collecting dolls, and wintering at their home in Ft. Myers Beach, FL.
Surviving Barb in addition to her husband of 44 years, Wayne, are her son, Joe Steffens (and fiancée Holly Harley) of Waldron; a granddaughter, Paige Steffens; and her adopted family members, Birdie Harley and Caitlyn Leach.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Jr. on March 6, 2012.
