BRYAN BOARD OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS: Board Discusses 2025 Budget

The Bryan Board of Public Affairs met on Tuesday, December 3rd at 5 pm. After the Pledge of Allegiance was a roll call.

The board members for the BPA are Chair Karen Ford, Vice Chair Annette Schreiner, Dick Long, Jim Salsbury, and Bob Eyre. Jim Salsbury was absent, and Treasurer John Lehner and Director of Utilities Derek Schultz were present.

The first agenda item was to approve the minutes from the November 19th meeting. Motion to approve by Schreiner and seconded by Dick Long. Next a discussion of semi-monthly disbursements with a motion to pay the bills. Motion to approve by Schreiner and seconded by Eyre.


The board discussed a Few Resolutions. Represented. 27-2024 to approve the 2025 BMU Budget and request city council adoption.

Schultz explained that the board received a copy of the budget at the last meeting’s presentation and no changes have been made to the budget—a motion to approve was made by Eyre and seconded by Schreiner.

Resolution 28-2024 to approve an addendum to the North Industrial Park Agricultural Lease agreement. Motion to approve by Long and seconded by Annette Schreiner.


Resolution 29-2024 to authorize the Director of Utilities to advertise for bids and enter into an agricultural lease agreement. (Bryan Solar Field) A motion to approve by Eyre was seconded by Long.

Lastly a motion for a letter of support for a grant to build a senior living community. Motion to approve by Long and seconded by Eyre.

For BPA comments Schultz reminded the board that December 9th at 4 pm was the shut off for the BMU Internet.

The next Bryan of Public Affairs meeting will be held Tuesday, December 17th at 5 pm.
