The Toledo Symphony Orchestra offered the Bryan community a festive evening of holiday performances this past Thursday.
The concert was held at St. Patrick Church in Bryan on December 5, 2024, at 7:00 pm. Those in attendance enjoyed a program filled with Christmas cheer, musical talent, and holiday favorites.
Conductor Steven Jarvi opened the event with a warm welcome and pleasant introduction to The Toledo Symphony Orchestra. Jarvi, a highly qualified and respected musician, brought energy to the stage and led the orchestra as they made their way through the lineup.
The program began with “A Christmas Scherzo”, “Overture to a Merry Christmas”, and “Christmas Eve Polonaise”. Mr. Trevor Ewigleben was then featured on the trumpet for his solo in “Wassail, Wassail, All Over the Trumpet”.
After an enormous round of applause from the audience, the program continued with “Jingle Bells Forever” and “Refried Farandole”.
A brief intermission then took place to allow guests a chance to take a moment before finishing the concert on a strong note.
After intermission concluded, the program resumed with “White Christmas”, “The Christmas Song”, and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”, a holiday classic which featured another soloist, Gavin Askins, vocally.
The orchestra then invited the audience to join in with their next piece, “A Holly and Jolly Sing-Along!”, where audience members could find the lyrics to “Deck the Hall”, “The Holly and the Ivy”, and “Jingle Bells” in their programs. The orchestra wrapped up their concert with “Finale from ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’”.
The Toledo Symphony Orchestra and the members of St. Patrick Church are grateful for the community support of the arts and displayed a wonderful concert of Christmas joy and musical delight.
