The Bryan Board of Public Affairs met on March 19, 2024. The board moved to approve the minutes from their March 5, 2024 meeting.
It was then announced that there would be no reconsideration of posting videos for the BPA and Bryan City Council meetings.
While transcribed recordings were offered previously on their YouTube channel, which averaged around 70 views a month, they have since decided to move towards Spotify as the exclusive platform for the audio recordings of their meetings.
While Spotify intends to work on providing auto-transcription of podcasts, transcription is not currently available for public BPA or City of Bryan meetings.
Minutes for the meetings are usually available on the websites for both the city and BMU the week of the following meeting, giving residents the opportunity to review them once passed via resolution.
The board approved the February financial statements before going on to approve the hire of Jim Salsbury as the new water superintendent.
Discussion was then held on the emails held by the City of Bryan, with it being shared that business emails have a more consistent group of fewer members than the residential email use, which is why the spam protection was initially only renewed for business account holders. The cost for that renewal was $8,100.
The idea discussed was to move to an alternate email hosting service. It was shared that a resolution regarding the matter would be proposed at the next meeting.
An update and review of unbilled services was then given, with the services to the schools, parks, and utility equipment detailed to the board.
The bills were then approved to be paid, with discussion being held that further information is necessary before the board approves the review of their unbilled services agreement, to ensure that the parameters fit for the current disposition of both the city and BMU.
The board shared that they would miss Jim sitting with them, but that they are excited to see him start as the new water superintendent.
Grant application updates were then given, with it being shared that no mutual aid requests were sent to Williams County for the tornados seen throughout Ohio last week.
They then adjourned the meeting, set to meet in April on both the 2nd and 16th at 5 p.m.
