The Williams County Public Library (WCPL) saw the dedication of their 1903 Carnegie Library steps, as well as the reveal of their many recent improvements to the library.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the steps, with Interim Director Dylan Wagner giving a speech detailing how excited library staff are to see the results of the hard work they’ve put into remodeling some of this historic building.

The original dedication of this building happened on December 20, 1904, and this dedication, nearly 120 years later, consisted of the newly refurbished front steps, adult library, children’s library and garden area, programming room, and computer lab.
The wonderful children’s area treehouse was designed and built by prior Maintenance and Facilities Manager Jordan Armbuster, and a projector was installed, by Technologies Manager Tyson Horton, that children can use to play interactive games and watch materials.

There has also been the implementation of many new community projects, with Lonnie Smith working as the Outreach Manager.
Their “homebound” service serves those in the community that find themselves unable to easily leave their homes, with Ms. Smith delivering materials to their doorsteps.

Those interested in homebound services should call the library and ask to speak with Lonnie. A part of the library staff’s dedication to accessibility can be seen in their new addition “library of things,” wherein patrons can check out items (bake ware, movies, board games) so that they may experience these things without having to raise the funds to purchase them.
Another forward-thinking addition with regards to accessibility is the new ramp near the circulation desk.
The staff at WCPL are excited to share everything new at the library with the community and invite everyone to come experience all they have to offer firsthand.
