Dale Krill (1931-2020)

Dale F. Krill, age 89, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away at 5:10 P.M. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio, after a brief illness.

Mr. Krill was a 1949 graduate of Edgerton High School and also was a graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in sociology and sang in the men’s choir at the university.

He was a lifelong dairy farmer, working on the family farm until his retirement in 2011.  Dale was an active member of Emanuel United Methodist Church near Edgerton, singing in the choir, was a member of the United Methodist Men and served on various committees in the church.

He was also a member of Edgerton Masonic Lodge #357 F & AM, served on the Edgerton Local School Board for several terms, was a member of the Farm Bureau, and was an avid supporter of the Edgerton Free Store.


Dale F. Krill was born on July 9, 1931, near Edgerton, the son of Paul D. and Rosa Christine (Valet) Krill.  He married Caryl J. Mast on December 28, 1950, in Edgerton, and she preceded him in death on May 2, 2005.

Survivors include two daughters, Marcia (Rob) Atwell, of Tampa, Florida, and Sandra (Dave) Thiel, of Edgerton; one son, Bruce Krill, of Edgerton; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Hilda (Rodger) Sharp, of Lake, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Mary Krill, and a sister and brother-in-law, Leona and (Wayne) Betts.


Private grave side services will be held at Tamarack Cemetery near Edgerton. Memorials are requested to the Edgerton Free Store or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
