David R. Glasgow, age 68, of Vandalia, Michigan, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024, at his home.
He was born August 8, 1956, in Charlotte, Michigan, son of Donald Ellsworth and Marian (King) Glasgow.
Dave spent his early life moving around. He spent a few years in Lodge Grass, Montana where his dad pastored two churches on the Crow Indian Reservation.
He also lived in Mishawaka, Indiana for some time. He graduated from Waverly High School in Lansing. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1974 serving his country for five years when he was honorably discharged.
In 1976 he married Christine Marie Hoaglin in Sturgis. Together they had seven children and fostered many more. David enjoyed woodworking, sci-fi, classic rock, the outdoors and spending time with his family.
Following his discharge from the Air Force he worked at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. He spent the majority of his career at TACOM with the Department of Defense. He was very proud of his work as an electronics technician working with many tanks for the military. He retired from TACOM in 2017 after working over 40 years for the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 41 years Christine; father: Don Glasgow of Fayette, Ohio; sister: Rebecca Lovelass of Madison, Wisconsin; his children: Angelina (James) Sabatino of Three Rivers, Katrina Glasgow of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Selena (Scott) Cressman of Portage, Anna Glasgow of Kalamazoo, Gerald (Adrianna) Glasgow of Utica, Kelly Glasgow of Elkhart, Indiana and Lily (Nick) Falkenstein of Sturgis; grandchildren: Lashaya Glasgow, Malea Boring, Michale Combs, Nalicia Horton, Keagan Boring, Nolan Cressman, Isaac Cressman, Grant Cressman, Aaliyah Pulliam, and Colton Falkenstein; great grandchild: Na’Riyah Horton; mother-in-law: Barbara Hoaglin of Greenville and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Marian Glasgow; sister: Ruth Glasgow; brother: Jon Glasgow, son-in-law: David Boring and father-in-law: Clarence Junior Hoaglin.
In honoring David’s wishes cremation has taken place. The family received friends on Monday, Dec. 30th at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, in Sturgis where a memorial service celebrating the life of David R. Glasgow immediately followed the visitation with Pastor Rodger Moyer officiating.
