Ongoing efforts to bring road repairs back to the forefront of Delta Village Council business continued at the council’s latest meeting, with Interim Village Administrator Samuel Chappell reporting on an in-house street evaluation.
Chappell said Street Superintendent Neil Tedrow recently completed the evaluation of the village’s streets, assigning them a rating of one to five as well as providing notes on their status and potential repair plans.

According to the evaluation, the intersection of Enterprise Drive and Rogers Street and the surrounding area is in the worst condition of the village’s thoroughfares.
“It’s gonna be expensive, because it’s probably going to be a complete redo,” Chappell said. “After looking at it and talking to some engineers, there’s some issues with it.
“We couldn’t find the plans to see what was underneath it … but it looks like whatever it is there’s dirt coming up from the road now.”
Chappell said that shouldn’t be happening, and that rocks put in the hole by the street department to patch it keep “disappearing into the road.”
He said he has reached out to multiple <a href=”https://thevillagereporter.com/stryker-village-council-bids-awarded-for-elevated-water-tower-control-panel-replacement-project/”>engineering firms</a> to get a cost estimate for plans to repair the road.
Chappell said the street department has begun filling potholes on some of the roads that aren’t as bad and are going to start resurfacing alleyways in the village. He also said a company has been contacted to get cost estimates to repair cracks in several newer roads.
