The Edgerton Village Council met on Wednesday, February 19th, 2024 at 5:30 p.m.
Mayor Robert Day began the meeting with The Pledge of Allegiance and prayer. Roll call got underway with council members Jason Gruver, Lance Bowsher, Pam Wampler, Sharon Blinzler, Fiscal Officer Denise Knecht, Village Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles, and Administrative Assistant Amanda Knecht in attendance with council members Chuck Wallace and Leslie VanAusdale absent.
Also in attendance were Police Chief Ken Jacob, fellow police officers, Assistant Fire Chief Robert Adkins, and a few members from the community.
Next up was the approval of the meeting minutes from the February 4th council meeting. Bowsher motioned to approve, seconded by Gruver.
Mayor Day had nothing new to report nor did Police Chief Jacob. For the Fiscal Officer report Denise Knecht told the council they had a credit card review policy to sign.
For the administrator report, Fitzcharles commented on how well the Edgerton Pedestrian Safety Project went on Monday.
A motion was made to consider two police department hires, Ashley Plotts and Christian Stork. Both new hires were sworn in by Mayor Day with their families attending.
A motion was made to consider reclassification in the fire department of Shaun Murphy, who successfully became certified firefighter 1. Murphy, a Edgerton 2024 graduate, served as a junior firefighter during his time at Edgerton Local Schools.
Chief Scott Blue praised Murphy’s dedication and how important programs like the junior firefighter’s initiative are.

A motion was made to approve revenue receipt from Ohio Department of Development and issue payment for invoice to August Mack for the Edgerton Metals Brownfield Remediation Project.
A motion was made to consider the acceptance of the NatureWorks Grant Agreement.
Fitzcharles stated that this was a reimbursement grant, and it was for seeding, trash bins, and dog waste receptacles out at Miller Park and the discussion golf course.

A motion was made to consider the appointment of Philip Shiple to the Williams County Health Board. All motions passed.
The council approved the final reading of Village of Edgerton Ordinance No. 1149, an ordinance adopting the Williams County cost recovery standard.
They also approved Village of Edgerton Resolution No. 2025-003, a resolution in support of State Issue 2, which is a renewal of the state capital improvement program, on the May 6th, 2025 statewide ballot.
The village council meeting adjourned at 5:55.The next council meeting is set for Wednesday, March 19th at 5:30 p.m.
