The Edgerton Village Council met on Wednesday, February 19th, 2024 at 5:30 p.m.

Mayor Robert Day began the meeting with The Pledge of Allegiance and prayer. Roll call got underway with council members Jason Gruver, Lance Bowsher, Pam Wampler, Sharon Blinzler, Fiscal Officer Denise Knecht, Village Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles, and Administrative Assistant Amanda Knecht in attendance with council members Chuck Wallace and Leslie VanAusdale absent.

Also in attendance were Police Chief Ken Jacob, fellow police officers, Assistant Fire Chief Robert Adkins, and a few members from the community.

A motion was made to consider two police department hires, Ashley Plotts and Christian Stork. Both new hires were sworn in by Mayor Day with their families attending.

A motion was made to consider reclassification in the fire department of Shaun Murphy, who successfully became certified firefighter 1. Murphy, a Edgerton 2024 graduate, served as a junior firefighter during his time at Edgerton Local Schools.

Chief Scott Blue praised Murphy’s dedication and how important programs like the junior firefighter’s initiative are.
