(March 31st, 2015) – EVERGREEN: The Bomber boys made the lengthy trip to Evergreen to take on the Vikings, as well as fellow guests North Central, in three way track action. Edon took the meet with a commanding 82 points, while Evergreen and the Eagles battled it out for second place. The hometown boys narrowly edged out a determined North Central squad, 48-36.
Edon senior Alex Kirkingburg earned a first place finish in the pole vault event, besting an Evergreen foe to do so. Blake Thiel took home a first place for the Bombers finish in the long jump with a leap of 16’7”. North Central’s Nick Henry earned a second place finish with a jump of 15′. Bomber high jumper Logan Bloir finished in first place for the event by clearing a 5′ jump.
In the shot put, Kenneth Ordway gave Edon another first place finisher, launching the metal org 43’3” to edge out an Evergreen thrower. Bomber teammate Vincent Hutchins claimed third place with a throw of 36’1”. Alex Munger finished in fourth place for North Central, as the Eagle senior tossed the shot put 32’6”.
Evergreen took a top place finish in the discus with a throw of 129’3”. Hutchins was close behind for Edon, tossing his disc 116’2”. Ordway finished in third with a 106’9” effort, and Munger was fourth at 89’1”.
Andrew LaDuke gave Edon a first place finisher in the one mile run at 5:13.3, while teammate JJ Braun was the first to cross the finish line in the two mile race, thanks to his time of 11:35.5. Coy Dunkle Jr. gave Edon first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:23.8. Kirkingburg ran a 54.7 in the 400 meter run, good enough for first place.
Overall, Edon took control of the meet early, and never really relinquished their grip. They claimed first place competitors in most of the events, and that is what helped them to win so convincingly.
