Students at Edon High School were given a hands-on look at future career opportunities during a recent career fair that brought together more than 20 local businesses and organizations. In total, 23 businesses participated, offering a wide range of career paths and experiences.
Attendees included the Edon Police Department, County EMS representatives, and the Florence Township Fire Department. Several local staples such as the Williams County Economic Development Corporation (WEDCO), Spangler Candy Company, and Kamco Industries had booths as well.
To help encourage meaningful interaction, students were given bingo sheets filled with suggested questions to ask vendors.
The activity was designed to help the kids guide conversations, particularly for students who may have been unsure of how to approach professionals or what to ask.
Those who completed their bingo sheet were eligible for prizes at the end of the event. Many organizations also incorporated interactive games into their booths.
Some businesses offered games such as Plinko or trivia-style challenges, with incentives like gift card raffles for correct answers. Meanwhile, public safety representatives provided more hands-on experiences.
Students had the opportunity to try on real police and firefighter gear to better understand the physical demands of the job. EMS personnel demonstrated skills such as intubation practice.
Beyond exploration, the event also served as a direct pathway for employment for some students, with several businesses offering summer job opportunities during the fair.
By combining interactive learning with real-world connections, the career fair provided students with both insight and opportunity — helping them take early steps toward future, local career paths while building confidence in professional settings.
