Elaine Rychener (1943 – 2024)

(Member Of Pettisville Missionary Church)

Elaine Marie (Gearig) Rychener of Pettisville was called home to be with Jesus on November 24, 2024 at the age of 80.

She was born November 29th, 1943 to Willard (Bill) and Ann (Rueger) Gearig. She was a 1961 Archbold High School graduate, and she graduated from Adrian College in 1965 with a degree in Elementary Education.

She married Simon (Phil) Rychener on August 22, 1965. Elaine was a 6th grade teacher at Pettisville for most of her career until she retired from teaching in 1996.

She obtained her masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from BGSU 1988 and helped many people find healing through the love of Jesus. Elaine was a member of Pettisville Missionary Church all of her adult life.


She is survived by her husband Phil; son, Scott (Amy) Rychener of Wauseon, and daughter Traci (Justin) Thompson, of Archbold; Sisters: Barbara (Robert) Miller, Dandridge, TN; Judi (Carl) Miller, Archbold; Sisters-in Law, Lynda (Tom) Rychener, Phoenix, AZ; Jane (Del) King, Pettisville; Brother-in-Law Chris (Marilyn) Rychener, Pettisville. Grandchildren, Matt Bost, Wimauma, FL; Blake Bost, Wauseon; Lauren (Tyson) Stuckey-Rufenacht, Archbold; Luke Rychener, Tampa, FL. Great-grandchildren, Claire Bost, Braxton Bost, and Jacqueline Bost; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ann; Father-in-law, Eldon (Tom) Rychener; Mother-in-law, Thelma Rychener; Sister: Dorothy (Donald) Nine; Brothers-in-law: Tom Rychener, Robert Miller, Donald Nine, Carl Miller and Joe Rychener; and Sister-in-law, Sandra (Joe) Rychener.

A private Interment will be at Pettisville Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Pettisville Missionary Church at 11:00am on Friday November 29th, 2024. All are welcome. Short Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Family suggests that memorials be given to Pettisville Schools or Pettisville Missionary Church.
