The Evergreen Local Board of Education met for its regular session on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 6 p.m., with eight visitors in attendance.
The meeting opened with approval of the minutes from the February 17, 2026, regular meeting, followed by approval of the February financial reports, including the cash reconciliation, financial summary, cash summary, and disbursement summary.
Board members accepted several donations, including a $100 anonymous contribution to the Student Assistance Fund, along with two $100 donations from Truland Equipment and the Fulton County Farm Bureau to support the FFA Next Generation Conference.
The board also approved fund transfers and appropriation modifications, increasing the Auxiliary Fund by $41,409.55 and the General Fund by $40,000.
A School Bus Safety Grant totaling $17,961 was approved, and the board entered into an Auxiliary Services Agreement with the Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West for the 2025-26 school year at a cost of $82,854.59 to provide services benefiting Holy Trinity School.
Personnel matters included the approval of Erin Cheesbro and Myah Griggs as substitute bus drivers and Shyanna Harper as a one-on-one nurse, pending completion of all requirements.
Jeff Youtzy and Ronnie Woods were approved as summer grounds and custodial workers from April 1 through September 30, with hours capped at 40 per week at the substitute rate.
Student tutors for the Students for Other Students program were also approved at minimum wage, along with Addison Kiefer as program coordinator for the upcoming school year at a stipend of $1,500.
A major instructional investment was authorized with the purchase of the MyView K-5 English Language Arts curriculum through SAVVAS at an approximate cost of $136,157.39.
The program aligns with Ohio learning standards and includes instructional materials, digital access, and professional development.
The board approved continued participation in the Optimal Health Initiatives Workers’ Compensation Group Rating Program for 2027 and entered into an agreement with the Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center for special education services for fiscal year 2026-27 at an estimated cost of $1,047,911.50, with the majority to be deducted from state foundation payments.
Several overnight trips for agriculture students were approved, including participation in the Ohio FFA State Meats Judging Contest at The Ohio State University, the Ohio FFA Summer Camp, and the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.
The board also approved a contract with Mika Construction of Lyons, Ohio, to replace sidewalks on the north and northwest sides of the high school at a cost of $64,469.26.
During discussion, several staff transfers were noted, including Tori Wright moving from second grade to third grade for the next school year, Darcy Feeback transitioning from bus driver and cashier to library aide, and Matt Saeger moving from bus aide to cashier.
Administrative reports followed, with updates on the English Language Arts adoption process and state testing, along with continued strategic planning efforts for high school programming and the installation of lighted school zone signs along County Road S.

The meeting concluded with adjournment at 6:25 p.m., and the next regular board meeting is scheduled for April 20, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Loren Pennington Learning Center in the high school.
