Giving birth can be scary, especially when you’re a dog in a less than favorable circumstance. One local animal advocate is working hard to give vulnerable pregnant and birthing canines of Southern Michigan / Northern Ohio a safe place to nest, seen with the recent start of For the Love of Moms Rescue by Kasey Feasel.

Working in the veterinary field, Kasey has always enjoyed “working with pregnant dogs and helping throughout the birthing process,” and when she later took in a hospice foster, Kasey realized “the overwhelming number of animals in need,” and decided she “wanted to do more.”

“For the Love of Moms Rescue is a newer rescue. We serve Ohio and Southern Michigan,” Kasey shared that they “are currently 100% foster based, meaning we do not have a physical location.”

While the rescue hopes to someday have a physical location, they are hard at work networking to garner local fosters.

“We currently have space to take in neonatal puppies, but need more fosters who also wouldn’t mind taking in a pregnant mother,” Kasey mentioned, sharing that getting more people to volunteer as fosters is the key to helping vulnerable canine mothers, orphans, and neonates.

“The best ways to help our mission would be to apply to foster, donate items from our Amazon wish list, or even donate used items you no longer need.”

“We are always happy to set up a time to pick up items, and we take monetary donations as well. You can donate on our website or PO Box 201, Wauseon OH, 43567.”

There is merchandise available on their website, and the purchase of a new t-shirt or sweatshirt can also help the mission.

“A free way to help our cause is to spread the word and like our page on Facebook, “For The Love of Moms Rescue,” or check out our website: https://www.fortheloveofmoms.org.”

Every species of mother deserves a safe space to bring their babies into the world, and you can help Kasey do just that by supporting For the Love of Moms Rescue.
