Summer is in full swing and has us thinking about gardens, fresh produce, and all the bounty Ohio has to offer.

As we enjoy the fresh produce, we also want to keep in mind how we can preserve the bounty to allow for good nutrition and healthy meals for our family in the winter months ahead.

But where should you start? Should I freeze or can the green beans? Do I use a boiling water bath or a pressure canner to preserve my tomatoes?

If you find yourself asking these questions, then the Food Preservation Open House is for you! This four-hour open house will be offered on Wednesday, June 14 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Fulton County Extension Office.

This will be a great opportunity to have the gauge on your pressure canner tested ($5/lid), learn about the various food preservation methods, ask any questions you may have, and share your canning experiences with others.

There is no cost to attend the Food Preservation Open House. We hope that you can join us and explore the various methods which allow for good nutrition and healthy meals for your family in the winter months ahead. For more information, reach out to our office at (419) 337-9210.
