As summer kicks off and families hit the road for vacations, [local law enforcement agency] is reminding motorists to Click It or Ticket. Aimed at enforcing seat belt use to help keep you and your family safe, the national seat belt campaign will take place May 22 through June 4, concurrent with one of the busiest travel and holiday weekends of the year.
A special kick-off event will take place at McDonald’s locations in Archbold and Wauseon on Friday, May 19th with local law enforcement getting the word out about the importance of using your seat belt every time you are in a vehicle. “As we kick-off the busy summer driving season it’s important that everyone buckles up every time they go out, both day and night – no excuses,” said Fulton County Sheriff, Roy Miller.
Partnering with McDonald’s in Archbold and Wauseon, local law enforcement will be checking drivers and passengers as they wait in the drive thru line and rewarding those that are wearing their seat belts correctly with dessert coupons donated by McDonald’s. No citations will be issued for non compliance with the law, but reminders will be given.
“Seat belts save thousands of lives every year, but far too many motorists are still not buckling up, especially at night when the risk of getting in a crash is even greater,” said Rachel Kinsman, Fulton County Safe Communities Project Director. “We want everyone to have a safe summer, but it requires an important step on the part of motorists – clicking that seat belt.”
