Spend some time during the dog days of summer at one of the area Fulton County Senior Center sites in Wauseon, Delta, Swanton, Archbold, or Fayette. Various activities are held at each site.
On August 18, an OPERS meeting will be held at the Wauseon site with State Representative Robert McColley, from District 81. On Friday, August 28, seniors are invited to a Hawaiian Luau at 1:00 in the Wauseon Senior Center gym. Stop by for snacks, a cool drink, and plenty of festive fun.
On Thursday, August 20, Cheryl Witt, Information & Referral Specialist, will take appointments from 10 to noon at the Swanton Library. Get help understanding insurance bills, Medicare, completing applications, and more. On Tuesday, August 25, Cheryl will be at the Evergreen Library in Metamora from 10 to noon.
Thursday, August 27 is your opportunity to meet with Cheryl in the Wyse Commons Library on the Fairlawn campus, Archbold, from 10 to noon. Cheryl’s services are offered at no cost to seniors in partnership with Wyse Commons and the local libraries. Please make an appointment in advance with Cheryl for any of these times at 419-337-9299.
Upcoming events planned for September include a day trip to Putt Putt Fun Center in Defiance, Ohio, for a round of miniature golf on Friday, September 11. Before golfing, enjoy lunch at Bob Evans. Another upcoming event that requires registration includes a day trip to the Sylvania Senior Center for a Fall Follies matinee. “My Kind of Town” is a variety show with song, dance, cultural and travel humor on Wednesday, September 16. The performers are seniors who attend the Sylvania Senior Center. Cost for this trip is nine dollars which includes the show and transportation. Please pay in advance. Transportation will leave from the Wauseon site at 12:30 pm. Very little walking is involved in this trip.

The Senior Center will have a booth at the 158th Fulton County Fair again this year. They are looking for volunteers for a shift at the booth from September 4 through September 10th. Duties while staffing the booth include such things as the following: hand out brochures, newsletters and meal tickets (to Fulton County Residents, 60+ only), keep the mint basket full and keep the Senior Center promotional DVD playing.
