Gladys M. Bailey, 85, of Fayette, died early Monday morning, January 21, 2013, at Heartland of Wauseon. She was born September 8, 1927, in West Unity, OH to the late Leonard and Suzie (Keiser) Siegel. Gladys married George LaVern Bailey on August 15, 1948, in Fayette, and he preceded her in death on April 24, 2002.

Gladys grew up in the West Unity area and was a graduate of Alvordton School. She worked over 20 years at Peter Stamping in Fayette. Gladys was a devoted member of the Fayette Firebelles and formerly attended the Fayette Christian Church-Disciples. She is remembered for her love and skill of gardening, be it tending to her sweet corn or her flowerbeds, and she also enjoyed playing shuffleboard during trips to Florida.

Surviving Gladys are two sons, Jerry (Kay) Bailey of Waldron, MI, and Allen Bailey (and Debbie Wilenius) of Hudson, MI; a brother, Lloyd Siegel of West Unity; sister, Doris Snow of Bryan, OH; daughter-in-law, Janice (Doug) Siegel of West Unity; eight grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, George, she was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Gary Bailey; and two siblings, Harold and Betty.

A funeral service for Gladys Bailey will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette with Rev. Gene Sugg officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday afternoon, from 2-8 p.m.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorial donations in Gladys’s honor to the Gorham Fayette Fire Department or the American Cancer Society.
