Julie A. (Stemen) Sargent (1963 – 2015)

Sargent - WEBJulie A. (Stemen) Sargent, 51, of Montpelier passed away Monday morning at her home after a 2 year battle with stage 5 renal / kidney disease.  Julie was able to see her son Jared graduate high school on Sunday.  She was born on December 1, 1963 in Bryan to Charles F. and Joanne C. (Hornyak) Stemen, Jr.  Julie graduated from Montpelier High School in 1982.  On September 1, 2001 she married Terry S. Sargent and he survives.

Julie worked as a Bank Teller at First Federal Bank in Bryan and Montpelier for a year.  She also worked at Handy and Harmon, now DANA, in Angola, Indiana for 12 years.  Julie volunteered as a mentor at Montpelier Schools for many years.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her son Jared play football and baseball.  Julie also enjoyed puzzle books.

She is survived by her husband Terry; one son Jared Sargent of Montpelier; mother Joanne C. Stemen of Montpelier; two brothers, Randy C. Stemen of Montpelier and Greg M. Stemen of Kalamazoo, Michigan; one sister Lorene J. Stemen of Columbia City, Indiana; one niece, one nephew and several great nieces and nephews and her dog Sadie.

Julie was preceded in death by her father Charles F. Stemen, Jr.

Graveside services will be on Saturday, May 30th at 11am at Shiffler Cemetery in rural Bryan with Pastor Mike Martinelli to officiate.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Montpelier Public Library.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com.
