Karen Ann Cooper, 78 years, of Bryan passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan. Karen was born September 10, 1942 in Delphos, Ohio, the daughter of the late William Michael and Helen Elizabeth (Schatzinger) Murray.

She married Lavon Richard Cooper, Sr. on April 28, 1961 in Garrett, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on July 7, 2020. Karen worked at the Bryan Times in the circulation department for five years. She previously worked at ITW Tomco Plastic Inc. for seven years.

Karen was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan. She was a loving mother and grandmother and always cherished her time spent with her family. In her free time, Karen enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning vegetables, and baking sugar cookies.

Surviving are four children, Diana Ortiz of Casa Grande, Arizona, Rick (Penny) Cooper of Bryan, Randy (Regina) Cooper of Edgerton, and Cherie (Ben) Crites of Bryan; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Wilma Pike of Lima, Ohio and brother, Bill Murray of Midland, Michigan.


Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Lavon; daughter, Patricia Cooper-Simpson and granddaughter, Angela Cooper; three sisters, Margie Herbing, Pat Burnett, and Nany Skolnick; brother, John Murray.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the family will hold a private family service for Karen at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Interment will take place in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan. Services are in care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.

The family asks those remembering Karen, to make memorial contributions to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 610 South Portland Street, Bryan, Ohio 43506.
