Marvin Rockey (1924-2019)

Marvin B. Rockey, age 95, a lifelong resident of Edon, Ohio, passed away at 3:30 A.M. on Thursday, February 28,, 2019, at Hillside Country Living near Bryan, Ohio, after an extended illness.

Mr. Rockey was a graduate of Edon High School and served in the United States Army in Japan during World War II. A lifelong farmer, he was also a member of the Edon Church of Christ,where he served as an elder. His other memberships include Edon Masonic Lodge #474, F & AM, Edon American Legion Post #662 and Edon Lions Club. He was an avid bowler and also was a Honor Flight participant.

Marvin B. Rockey was born on February 4, 1924, near Edon, the son of Paul and Zella (Bauer) Rockey. He married Lorraine M. Deetz on June 5, 1948, at the Montpelier Church of Christ in Montpelier, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on May 26, 2009.

Survivors include two sons, Les (Connie) Rockey, of Plant City, Florida, and Steve (Vicki) Rockey, of Edon; five grandchildren, Brett (Alyssa) Rockey, Jason (Michelle) Rockey, Luke (Stepanie) Allen, Kiel (Ashley) Rockey and Kelsi (Jason) Robinett; and eight great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Orval and Virginia Rockey.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon. Service will held on Friday, March 8, 2019, at 11:00 A.M, in the Edon Church of Christ, with Pastor David LaDuke officiating. Interment will follow in Edon Cemetery with grave side military rites conducted by Edon American Legion Post #662 and the United States Army Honor Guard.

Memorials are requested to Hillside Country Living or to Edon Church of Christ.
