Maurice F. Smith

Maurice F. SmithMaurice F. Smith, 82, of Montpelier passed away Monday afternoon at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan. He was born on October 8, 1933 in Colton, Ohio to Harlen Leo and Grace (Shafer) Smith. Maurice graduated from Kunkle High School in 1953. On December 12, 1989 he married Constance J. Rundell and she survives.

Maurice was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Montpelier, and former member of the session. He was the former President and Chairman of the Board at the National Bank in Montpelier from 1954-1997. Maurice was a former member of the Montpelier Rotary Club, the Montpelier Moose, and Williams County Saddle Club. He was also the former owner of Tri-State Farm Equipment.

He is survived by his wife Constance; two sons, Douglas R. Smith of Defiance and Brad (Joni) Smith of Camden, Michigan; one daughter Sherri (Bill) Peters of Montpelier; two step sons, Bill (Char) Priest of Bryan and Randy (Sulynn) Priest Sr., of Montpelier; three grandchildren, Bethany Repp, Joshua Frazee and Carling Belknap, seven great grandchildren, eight step grandchildren and sixteen step great grandchildren; one brother George Smith of Wauseon; and one sister Margie (Ray) Gorrell of Centerville, Ohio.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and seven sisters.
