Melvon was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas on September 13, 1958. At the age of 18 he proudly joined the marines, Semper FI. Then he worked many years in the oil field.
He started off as a floor hand, quickly moved to a position as a driller and became a leader and mentor as foreman of the rig crew.
He was a loving father and enjoyed spending time with family. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and cooking.
He also enjoyed watching old tv shows and western movies. He had a kind heart and would often help others in need. Melvon was fun and adventurous and loved to make people laugh.
Melvon is survived by his former spouse Toni Winchester. Daughters, Jessica Salas (Alex), Nicholette Lirot (Michael), Angela Castillo (Jason) and Elizabeth Kilcrease. Grandchildren, Zoë and Jace Castillo, Giovanny and Nixon Salas, Patrick and Andrew Ritter and Gerison Johnson. Brothers, James Winchester, John Smith and Kenton Perry. Sisters, Ramona Gore and Charmon Perry.
Melvon is preceded in death by his father, Melvon Winchester II, Mother, Betty Crocker and Brother, Mark Winchester.
A visitation and celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 7 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, Archbold, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Archbold Fire Department.
