(September 15th, 2014)-MONTPELIER: In junior high volleyball action, both the Seventh and Eighth Grade Fayette Lady Eagles attempted to nest in Montpelier’s home court. The Lady Locos were ready for the intrusion, though, and each team of Locomotives was successful in defending their station from the Eagles.
The Seventh Graders were first to play. Right away, Montpelier established control over the match, winning game 1 in convincing fashion, 25-9. Fayette mounted a comeback, however, and the second set was far more competitive. Still, the Lady Locomotives were able to hold the Eagles off and take the set 25-18.
The Eighth Graders provided a more competitive match from start to finish. In game 1, the Lady Eagles battled hard, but couldn’t overcome the home town Locos as they fell 16-25. The girls of Fayette didn’t let up, but Montpelier proved to be too much for them. The Eagles dropped the set 18-25.
