The Village of Edgerton has been awarded $425,000 to build a new shelter house in Miller Park. The request Edgerton originally sent in included tentative plans for the building which they requested.
The permanent shelter house building blueprints will be decided on in the near future. The new shelter house would replace the original one which was built in the early 1970’s.
That shelter house was donated by the Edgerton Rotary Club and has been serving the community of Edgerton for over 50 years.
When Mayor Robert Day heard the voiced desires from the community residents for a new building, one larger to accommodate bigger gatherings and one with air conditioning, the plan became in motion and the village began working on establishing funds to complete the project.
The new shelter house will be 2.5 times larger than the original one, with air conditioning, and will be equipped to host many different events at its location.
“Thanks to our village team headed up by Village Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles, Representative Jim Hoops, Senator Rob McColley, Governor Mike DeWine, Edgerton Village Council and Park Board who have partnered together to make this happen. We continue to strive to do things that will live long beyond ourselves in Edgerton!”, said Mayor Day.
