September 6th-LIBERTY CENTER: Taking part in a tri-match in volleyball is difficult. Going against two teams involves more preparation, more dedication, and, of course, more perspiration. And even that isn’t enough, sometimes.
The junior varsity girls of North Central traveled to Liberty Center to do battle with both the home town Tigers and the Aces of Hicksville. Despite some standout performances, however, the Lady Eagles left Liberty Center with no more wins than losses.
Hicksville was the first opponent for North Central. The Eagles came out of the gates strong, handing the Aces a 25-9 defeat. Regrouping, Hicksville gave the girls of North Central all they could handle, taking the set 25-23. The Lady Eagles were able to rebound themselves, though, as they won game 3 by a score of 25-15.
In the second match, the Lady Eagles took on Liberty Center. Yet the Tigers were ready for them. In game 1, North Central played fiercely, but they couldn’t overtake the Tigers, losing 17-25. The second set played out similarly, with the Eagles dropping the game 15-25.
Makalya Knapp had a monstrous day for North Central, serving up 15 aces in total. Aleea Lonabarger put down 5 kills for the Lady Eagles, while teammate Allyson Fenicle went 7-0 on attacks, mustering 3 kills herself.
