ARCHBOLD (April 23, 2026) — A decisive fifth-inning surge propelled Archbold to a 14-4 mercy-rule victory over Wauseon in league play Thursday, as the Bluestreaks turned a competitive game into a commanding win.

Archbold’s lineup delivered production from top to bottom, highlighted by a standout night from Isaiahs Gracia, who collected three hits and drove in two runs.
The Bluestreaks finished with 14 hits and consistently capitalized on key opportunities to pull away late.
Wauseon struck first and set an aggressive tone early. Jack Altstaetter opened the game with a single, then used his speed to swipe second and eventually come all the way around to score on a series of passed balls, giving the Indians a quick 1-0 advantage.
Archbold wasted little time responding. After a walk and a single to begin the bottom of the first, Collin Short lined an RBI double to left to even the score.
CJ Arroyo-Thompson followed with a two-run double, and Joe Williams added an RBI single to cap a four-run inning and give the Bluestreaks a 4-1 lead.
Wauseon answered in the third with a strong offensive push of its own. Thad Reckner reached on a misplayed ground ball that brought home Altstaetter, and the Indians kept the pressure on.
Izaak Conrad delivered an RBI single, and Kahle Albright followed with an RBI double to tie the game at 4-4 midway through the inning.
But each time Wauseon gained momentum, Archbold responded.
The Bluestreaks reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the third after a leadoff double from Wyatt Cline. Jace Bernath brought him home with a sacrifice fly, and later in the inning,
Gracia put the ball in play and reached safely on an error that allowed two more runs to score, pushing the lead to 7-4.
Archbold added another run in the fourth, taking advantage of a defensive miscue to extend the margin to 8-4.
Still within striking distance entering the fifth, Wauseon needed a shutdown inning, but Archbold had other plans.

Gracia and Short opened the frame with back-to-back singles to spark the rally. Arroyo-Thompson drove in a run, then came around to score on an error.
With the bases loaded, Williams drew a walk and Tripp Langenderfer was hit by a pitch, forcing in two more runs to make it 12-4.
With two outs and the bases still loaded, Gracia delivered the final blow, a two-RBI double to center field that plated Bernath and Williams and sealed the mercy-rule victory.
Gracia also earned the win on the mound, striking out five over 3.1 innings of work. Arroyo-Thompson finished with three RBIs, while Williams added two hits and two RBIs in the balanced offensive effort.
