ARCHBOLD (September 16, 2025) – The Archbold Bluestreaks took home the 3-0 victory in volleyball play against the Wauseon Indians on Tuesday night.

As the first set began, play was tight as the two teams battled it out to a score of 5-4 Archbold, with scoring begun by an untouched kill from Bluestreak senior Miley Gericke.

After that brief back and forth, however, the Bluestreaks went on a 10-point run, including a whopping five aces from junior Scarlett Brehm to put the score at 15-4.

An Indian kill by sophomore Halle Gleckler was followed up by a three-point Archbold run, including two Wauseon errors and a kill by senior Charlee Forward.

Each team garnered six of the next 12 points. Highlights of the exchange included standout kills by Indian junior Josie Russell, which landed on the back line, and one by Bluestreak senior Lexi Ripke, which slammed to the ground untouched, leaving the score at 24-11.

Wauseon tried to find momentum, scoring three, but a sideline kill gave Archbold the first-set win, 25-14.

The second set started out worse than the first for Wauseon, with the Bluestreaks racking up 22 points – including five kills by junior Kennedy Hurst, four from Ripke, two from senior Autumn Benecke, and one from Gericke, as well as one ace each by Ripke and Gericke – to the Indians’ eight, with all of those coming from Archbold errors.

After a kill from Wauseon senior Marin Leatherman, the Bluestreaks put together another three-point run to take the set 25-9.

While the Indians never took the lead in any of the sets, they got the closest in the third, which started with a two-point-run trade by the teams to tie it at 2.

The Bluestreaks then took six out of the next seven points with two three-point runs, including kills by Hurst and freshman Molly Harris, to bring the score to 8-3.

Wauseon fought to keep scoring even, and both teams scored seven out of the next 14 points. Stand-out action included a kill by Ripke after a long battle and an ace on the back line from Indian senior Braelyn Rupp.

More back-and-forth fighting brought the score to 19-13, when the Bluestreaks went on a four-point run via faults, good blocking, and a kill by Harris.

Wauseon responded with its own three-point run, although it was due exclusively to faults. An Indian serve that landed past the back line of the court and a Bluestreak serve that was hit out of bounds by a Wauseon player sealed total victory for the Bluestreaks with a set score of 25-16 and match score of 3-0.
