Patricia Brown, affectionately known as Patty, age 60, of Swanton, Ohio, died at 11:58 a.m. Friday morning, March 2, 2018, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania.
She was born May 3, 1957 in Wauseon, Ohio to Dorothy (Miller) and Frederick Bernath. Patty was a 1975 graduate of Evergreen High School and obtained her Associates Degree in Social Work from the University of Toledo.
Patty was hired on March 3, 1981 with the Swanton Fire and Rescue and served 38 years with the department. Besides the Swanton Department, Patty worked for Delta, Metamora and Lyons Fire and Rescue, as well as Mercy Life Star, and was an Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support Instructor at Four County Career Center. Patty truly devoted her life to helping others, it was more than just a job.
Patty loved the Fulton County Fair, loved horses; especially Clydesdale horses, and was a proud member of the Swanton American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Most of all, Patty loved hanging out with family and friends and taking vacations.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Jessica (Mark) Cerda of Lyons, OH; stepsons, Steve Brown and Dan Brown; grandchildren, Tristan, Toria and Taylor; sisters, Bonnie (Don) Ditch, Karen (Wayne) Rogers; step-sisters, Angie Menden and Deb (Mark) Malak; sister-in-law, MaryAnn Bernath; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Patty was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Michael Bernath and niece, Stacy Mauthe.
Family and friends may visit Monday, March 5th from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hope Baptist Church, 6250 South Ave., Toledo, OH 43615, where a Firefighters walk through will be held from 7 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held Tuesday, March 6th at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Pastor John Marshall officiating, and will conclude with a Fireman’s Last Alarm Service.
A funeral procession will escort her body from the church to her final resting place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.
