Paul R. Smith (1943 – 2014)

Paul R. Smith, age 70, of Wauseon, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Fulton County Health Center. Prior to his retirement he had worked as a supervisor for the former German Village Products in Wauseon for over 35 years.

Paul was born in Wauseon on September 29, 1943, the son of Harold and Rosetta (Deters) Smith. On August 21, 1970 he married Elaine Knight, and she survives. He was a Navy Veteran and a member of the Wauseon VFW Post #7424. He loved sports cars and vintage Whizzer motorcycles. Paul also loved to cook and make chili. He even took first place at the 1stChili Cookoff in Wauseon.

Surviving besides his wife, Elaine, are three sons; Shawn (Darlene) Smith of Delta, Chad (Brenda) Smith of Wauseon and Bob (Lynn) Smith of Wauseon; three grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Ashley Smith and Zebadiah Smith; two great-grandchildren, Kamryn and Aubree Eicher. Also surviving are his siblings, Sue (Lee) Kerns of Clayton, Michigan, David (Donna) Smith of Wauseon, Cathy Smith of Montpelier and Eric Smith of Swanton. He is also survived by his dog, Zena.
