WEST UNITY – Fielding errors are often referred to as ‘extra outs’, and giving an opponent more than three outs in an inning is a flirtation with disaster. Errors had a huge presence on April 15 as the Hilltop Lady Cadets welcomed in the Pettisville Lady Blackbirds. While pitchers Delaney Nofziger and Leah Thompson were not benefiting from the gaps in the defense behind them, it was Pettisville’s Nofziger that was able to best minimalize the damage as the Ladybirds left town with a 7-2 BBC win.

Of the nine total runs scored in the game, not a one was of the earned variety. Nofziger allowed 7 hits and struck out one over 7 innings, while Thompson allowed 11 hits and a walk, fanning 5.
Audra Klopfenstein had 2 singles, a double and an RBI for Pettisville, while Johanna Roth had an RBI on 3 base hits. Emily Hubby, Andi Aeschliman and Mackenzie Riegsecker each had an RBI single, while Kaija Blosser and Stephanie Hubby each had a base hit.

Kacie Hodson had a single, a double and an RBI for Hilltop, with Brooke Chapin, Sidney Schmitt, Hannah Bleikamp, Shayla Coffman and Taylor Collins each getting a single.
